It was a dark and gloomy day at the Nature Center in White Oak, Texas. Never mind. Let me take you back three months ago. “It still hasn’t rained! It has been over one and a half weeks!” said Josh. He gets angry when it doesn’t rain. “I don’t care. It is not supposed to rain every week in White Oak!” said Josh’s boss Katie. “OOH! Look out the window!” said Katie slowly. There was a baby bird just lying there helpless with no parents. Katie ran out the door and brought it inside. It looked very sick. Katie took it to the vets’ office. They kept it for two days and then Katie got very exiting news. She got to keep the bird! She named him Sean. One month later Josh AND Katie started worrying. It still didn’t rain. Katie put Sean out in the nature center. Two months later Katie woke up and it was raining! She got dressed and when she was headed to her car, she stepped into a five- inch mud puddle! She called Josh and told him to be careful not to step in a puddle. He said okay and hung up the phone. When they got to work, it was still raining. Katie put on her raincoat and went outside to find Sean. But he wasn’t there! She looked and looked and couldn’t find him. When she got inside she looked out the window one last time before she knew he was really gone. But the first thing she saw when she looked out the window was Sean as happy as can be eating a worm! It was the happiest moment of her life! She was so happy to see her bird again!
